Usually from April 16 every year, NY NJ Striped Bass season opens. My favorite fishing spot (I go there every year) is this spot at Huns Point, NY.
For bait, I use squid, clam, and bunker, and this time I found out swimming shad lure can be really good.

So in our backyard, we used to set up the above ground pool every summer, but we’ve noticed that the kids had suddenly grown up and started to feel like the pool was tooo small… or something, and naturally, they asked for a trampoline instead this year……. [sigh].
So we bought the Exacme 14 foot trampoline with a good enough weight limit for a grown up person. The shipment came in 3 heavy boxes, and from reading the online reviews, it sounded like you need at least 2 people to assemble this comfortably.
Well, since I had no one to help, I decided to do this on my own, but surprisingly, it was easy to set up. In the video I show you how I did it!
By the way, Youtube is such a great place to share such info, and others have shared as well, and I’m just adding to the wealth of info out there 🙂
It’s always fun to watch the kids see the new installation of some sort, and this was no exception. They were so happy ^^
Bonus fact: Trampolines make for an amazing napping zone:
This winter’s been really cold. Some lakes and rivers are completely frozen over, and what does that mean??
Ice sledding and Ice fishing of course 🙂
Remember that one week (in NJ area where I live anyway) when it was like unbelievably cold? The ice was really thick, so I decided to “do-it-yourself” an ice sled and take the kids out for a nice round of sledding on the ice lake ^^
Here’s what happened:
Oh and some obligatory warning for ice sledding is included (for obvious reasons) ^^
I searched for good iced-out lakes in the above process, and found out there’s a pretty decent(?) ice fishing scene in the area. So a couple of weeks later, I went in search of that ice fishing scene:
Winter’s not over yet, and I have a feeling there’s more coming!
